印度大犀鳥分布於中國雲南、印度、緬甸、泰國、中南半島、馬來西亞和印尼，是群居型樹棲鳥類。在繁殖期常單獨行動，非繁殖期則成群活動。喙上的盔突上方有凹陷，形成兩個突起彷彿兩隻角，故又稱雙角犀鳥。 公鳥眼睛內的虹膜為深紅色，母鳥為白色，還有鳥類少見的粗長睫毛。不適宜長途飛行，多在樹枝間跳行。犀鳥的大嘴實際上很輕且能靈巧的採食及理毛。 The great Indian hornbill is not very good at flying, so it usually hops among tree branches. The male hornbill's irises are red in color and the female hornbill's are white. The hornbill has prominent "eyelashes." The large beak is actually light and dexterous, making it good at picking food and cleaning feathers.
